My Approach

Evidence-informed approaches, thoughtfully tailored to you.

No two clients carry the same story. Psychological care is tailored to each person’s needs, goals, circumstances, and clinical presentation, drawing from established therapeutic approaches to provide structured and purposeful support.

The Clinical Approach

Understanding the person behind the concern.

Psychological care begins with understanding the individual, not simply identifying symptoms. Assessment, clinical formulation — understanding the factors contributing to a person’s concerns — and therapeutic dialogue help clarify what the client is experiencing and the goals they want to work toward.

The therapeutic approach is then selected and adapted according to the individual’s needs, presenting concerns, circumstances, goals, and stage of care.

The approach follows the person, not the other way around.

I do not approach therapy as a one-size-fits-all process. Different therapeutic approaches are used according to the individual and the concerns being addressed, with the work reviewed and adapted as the therapeutic process develops.

Therapeutic Approaches & Clinical Frameworks

The Healing Table draws from established psychological approaches and clinical frameworks, selected according to the individual’s needs and therapeutic goals.

CBT

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy

A structured approach that helps clients understand the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours and develop more helpful ways of responding.

SFBT

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

A goal-oriented approach that focuses on strengths, practical solutions, and the changes a client wants to make.

STPP

Short-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

An approach that explores emotional patterns, relationships, and experiences that may influence how a person understands themselves and responds to others.

IPT

Interpersonal Therapy

A structured approach that focuses on relationships, communication, life changes, and interpersonal difficulties that can contribute to psychological distress.

TIC

Trauma-Informed Care

A sensitive clinical framework that considers the effects of trauma on wellbeing, relationships, coping, and emotional safety.

MI

Motivational Interviewing

A collaborative approach that helps people explore their own reasons for change, strengthen motivation, and work through uncertainty about change.

Clinical Reasoning

Care is adapted as your needs change.

Psychological care is not static. As treatment progresses, the therapeutic approach is reviewed in relation to the client’s response, goals, circumstances, and changing needs. Interventions are adjusted within the psychologist’s professional scope to keep care focused, purposeful, and clinically appropriate.

The Frame

Collaborative. Structured. Culturally responsive.

Therapy at The Healing Table is a collaborative process. We establish clear goals, work within a structured care plan, and review the approach as your needs change.

Care is designed to be clinically grounded while remaining practical and relevant to your everyday life, relationships, environment, and cultural context.
